How to get started with Wright O&P
When in need of a prosthesis for an amputated limb or an orthosis for a segment of the body that is not quite shaped or working the way it should be, there are a few steps we'll need to follow to get you taken care of. We are committed to getting you the care you need as quickly as possible.

A Free Consultation
Please call, text, email, or use our contact form below we can get you scheduled for a free evaluation. We'll get to know you and make a treatment plan to help you achieve your goals. We can do this evaluation in person at one of our clinics, remotely via telehealth, or if transportation is a significant challenge for you, we may even be able to come to your home. After getting scheduled, please fill out our intake form so we can create a chart for you.

*Important: we can only begin the process of providing prosthetic or orthotic care if we have a prescription from an MD, DO, NP, or PA.*
Shape Capture
We're sometimes able to do this step in the first visit depending on the treatment you need, but if that's not the case we can set up another visit. Many of the devices we provide are custom-made for each individual, which means we need to somehow capture the shape of the part of the body we're working with. We may do this through a 3D scan, a mold, or measurements. This video shows an example of a casting in one of our clinics.
Paperwork
After the evaluation we will need to get some paperwork from the provider that prescribed your care (typically an MD, DO, PA, or NP). The four things we need to provide a prosthesis or orthosis and have it covered by insurance are:

1) A prescription for the device we are providing.
2) A detailed prescription called a Standard Written Order (SWO), generated by us and signed and dated by the prescribing provider before the fitting and delivery appointment.
3) Chart notes from a recent visit the patient has had with the prescribing provider that include the medical necessity of the care we are providing.
4) A delivery receipt signed and dated by the patient or guardian on the day of device fitting and delivery.
We may ask for your help in communicating with your provider to get this documentation. The sooner we get the paperwork we need, the sooner we can do the final fitting and delivery, so any help you can provide is greatly appreciated!
Test Fitting
Depending on the type of device we're providing, we may need to do a test fitting to ensure what we are providing fits correctly. These devices are often made of plastic that can be heated and shaped for an individualized fit.
Fitting and Delivery
After the device has been custom-fabricated and we have the paperwork we need from the prescribing provider, we'll see you for the final fitting. During this visit we'll likely make some finishing touches, teach you how to use the device, and give you time to test it out. When you take it home we will then bill your insurance for the care we've provided.
Follow Up
Understanding that there may be a learning curve in device use and potentially some fitting adjustments that will need to be made, we will see you for a follow up visit a few weeks after device fitting and delivery. All devices we fit have a 90-day warranty, during which we will make any and all adjustments needed, even replace the device if necessary, to ensure it is fitting and functioning correctly. Even after the 90 days we are happy to see you for fitting adjustments.

Insurance
We understand that healthcare is not cheap so we are trying our best to be in-network providers with as many insurance providers as possible. Below you can find a list of the contracts our clinic has or has access to via third-party billers. While we are in network with most plans within these insurance networks there may be some exceptions, so we will always request your insurance cards to verify that we are in network before proceeding with care. The primary exception is Medicare advantage plans - we are currently not able to provide orthotic care to patients with Medicare advantage plans other than Blue Cross Blue Shield plans.
*If we are out of network with your private insurance plan or you have workers compensation insurance, we can often request a one-time authorization to work with your plan*
