What is scoliosis?
Scoliosis is an abnormal side-to-side curvature of the spine. Most scoliosis cases we see are referred to as idiopathic, meaning we don't know the exact cause. What we do know is that bracing helps to keep it from progressing so we can prevent the need for surgical correction. At Wright O&P, we also know that addressing the rotational aspect of each curve is a key to successful outcomes, that's why we use the WCR brace.
The WCR Scoliosis Brace
The results we've seen from the WCR brace are second to none. A product of the revolutionary work of Drs. Manuel Rigo and Jacques Cheneau, the WCR brace is designed and fabricated by Grant Wood's team at the Align Clinic in California. We are the only clinic in Austin with a WCR-certified orthotist and we often work closely with Schroth-certified physical therapists who treat scoliosis.
